SECOND DAY

Oberalp pass

When I got up in the morning and looked through outside of the window, it was cloudy. It might be an ominous presentimentc However, the east sky was bright, so I thought it was to fine in the afternoon. I had to go back to Schlieren once that day. It is about 170km from Sedrun to Schlieren. I thought that I could get there by noon. About 7:30 A.M, I had breakfast and checked out at 9:00P.M. It was really coming to go over one of the pass of the Swiss Alps. I started the engine of Kawasaki GPX 600R. Sedrun is already 1400m above sea level and I would go up to about 600m higher place. There were many hairpin curves and I rode to up on the steep road to the top of the Oberalp pass. When I got the top, it was still cloudy, but I took a picture feeling like the conquest of an unclimbed peak. It was really the first conquest of a pass of the Swiss Alps for me.

Schorenen ravine

There were some hotels around the peak and there was a small lake on the over side of the peak. After I felt great impression and looked the flowers for a while, I started to go to a town called Andermatt, where is west under the Oberalp pass. I rode the side of the lake and went down many hairpin curves. Then, I was surprised because I saw the famous train called Glacier Express, which ran up on the very steep railway. Andermatt is the small town and many higher mountains around there. Andermatt is like a "Crossing road of the Alps". So it has been of strategic importance for a long time. I turned right at Andermatt and went to north on R2. After that, the road was getting down a little and I saw something great. It was a ravine. It is Schollenen ravine. It moved my heart and I said "Bloody amazingc" in spite of myself.
